Hey there, bloomers! I’m Jess, and welcome to…
we’re in bloom. ✿
This garden of mine is dedicated to planting our seeds, tending to them, and blooming into the best version of ourselves.
As a former teenager, a fellow twenty-something, and an almost actual adult in her 30s – I’ve had to replant myself many times. Life has thrown its fair share of storms at me, but with each challenge, I’ve learned to respect the rain and embrace the sunshine after.
I’ve always known that it was a passion of mine to help others. Between my birth serving as a gift to my grieving family to starting my own “therapy” business throughout middle and high school, there was something deeply rooted in me that resonated with making people feel better, sometimes, even at my own expense. This root inspired me to major in – take a guess – ✨psychology✨ (with a minor in sociology.)
It became my goal to be a developmental psychologist. Until *drum roll please* quarantine. My senior year of college started in January 2020, and by March, well – you know. My privilege of existing in the stillness of the world allowed me to replant my seeds in the proper soil this time. I was 20 years old, and I discovered three significant truths about myself: My queerness, my appreciation for therapy, and WHY the need to help others is ingrained in me.
Through coming out about my bisexuality, an ADHD diagnosis (amongst other things), and spending so much time introducing myself to myself, I reflected on all those storms I mentioned earlier. I had an epiphany that I needed to help people because I never wanted anyone to feel the way I did. I wasn’t happy, but I found glimpses of happiness in knowing I was positively impacting someone else’s life. This realization led me to resign as President of the People Pleasers and to rethink how I want to help others. Because two things can be true at once: I can still be passionate about nurturing people AND doing it healthily.
The idea was to create a fruitful garden where my passions for mental health, entertainment, and growth could serve as a safe space for me and, most importantly, for all of you. I want to cultivate a gathering place for a community at any stage of their transformation journey and encourage all of us to blossom together. We can educate ourselves on mental health topics (not the social-media versions) in the garden, then go to the park to talk about music, books, and everything else under the sun.
So grab your seeds, plant them, get comfy, and let’s do this together. Remember, our flowers are flourishing every day, and it doesn’t happen overnight, soooo….. we’re in bloom!
I hope you choose to bloom with me!
Jess ♡
